To celebrate International Women’s Day, clothing label Missy Empire has collated a list of some of the world’s most famous A-list couples’ earnings to show how some women are making considerably more money than their other halves. The list includes the likes of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Beyoncé and Jay-Z and Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik.

“Being a powerful female has never been more achievable than in 2018, but finding that work/life balance is always tricky,” the brand says on its website, before paying tribute to some of the most famous women who are proving that it is not always men who bring home the bacon.

In the case of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the former earns almost three times that of her rapper husband in a year. She reportedly makes about £30.2 million, while he rakes in about £12.6 million annually.

When it comes to Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z, the singer earns more than double what her husband does, bringing home about £75.6 million, while he makes around £32.8 million.

Other couples who feature on the list include Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik; the supermodel earns about £6.8 million, while he makes roughly £3.6 million. Jennifer Lopez makes almost double that of her partner Alex Rodriguez (£27.4 million compared with £15.1 million) and Kylie Jenner earns about 50 times what her partner Travis Scott makes (£29.5 million compared with about £600,000).

These figures are of course not representative of how it works in most households, with women still being paid, on average (in the UK), nine per cent less than men. However, it is a friendly reminder that this doesn’t have to be (and is not always) the case.
