Happy birthday to the future king of England!
Ahead of Prince George‘s ninth birthday today, Kensington Palace has released a new portrait of the little royal, captured by his mother, Duchess Kate.
In the picture, George bears a striking resemblance to dad Prince William while smiling wide in a light blue collared shirt. The Duchess of Cambridge snapped the photo of George during a family holiday in the United Kingdom earlier this month.
Kate, a known lover of photography, often gets behind the camera to capture sweet moments with her children, including their birthday portraits. Earlier this year, she was the photographer behind Princess Charlotte’s seventh birthday and Prince Louis’s fourth birthday portraits.
The duchess has also since expanded her résumé to include official portraits of other royal family members. Namely, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was photographed by Kate for the July cover of Country Life magazine. The picture shows the future queen consort posing with a basket of pelargoniums while sitting in the garden of her private Wiltshire home.
In an ITV special, Camilla complimented Kate’s photography skills.
“She did very good pictures, and she does it sort of naturally. We had a lot of fun doing it,” she said, per People. “It was very relaxed and, of course, very kind of the Duchess of Cambridge. She came with her camera and she’s an extremely good photographer. And it was all very casual—there wasn’t much hair and make-up. It was just done in the garden with a lot of laughs—it was a lovely way of doing it.”
