Prince Harry may have lived The Crown, but that doesn't mean he's above watching it too.

In his latest press run to promote his memoirSpare, the Duke of Sussex stopped by The Late Show for an interview with Stephen Colbert. During their conversation, he admitted to fact-checking the popular Netflix drama series, which portrays a fictionalized account of the British royal family from the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne to the highly publicized marital issues between the now King Charles III and Princess Diana.

Toward the end of the interview, Colbert asked Harry, "You've watched The Crown, right?"

Yes, I have actually watched The Crown," Harry replied, affirming that he's seen "the older stuff and the more recent stuff."

Colbert jokingly asked, "Do you fact-check it while you watch it?"

In response, the royal began to mime turning pages and writing down notes, which prompted the laughter of Colbert and audience members. After a beat, Harry said, "Yes, I do, actually." He added, "Which, by the way, another reason why it's so important that history has it right."

Harry previously revealed his thoughts about the Emmy-winning drama in a 2021 interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

"They don't pretend to be news. It's fictional, but it's loosely based on the truth," Harry said, adding that he'd rather watch a fictional retelling of his family's lives rather than read tabloid stories about them.

"Of course it's not strictly accurate … but it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle—the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else—what can come from that," he continued. "I'm way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself. Because it's the difference between fiction, take it how you will, but this is being reported on as fact because you're supposedly news. I have a real issue with that."
