Prince William Shares An Update On Grandfather Prince Philip During A Visit To A Vaccination Center

With Prince Philip spending a sixth night in the hospital and no new updates from Buckingham Palace, his grandson Prince William has shared an update on his health.

During a visit to Norfolk, England, today to pay tribute to staff involved in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Duke of Cambridge told photographers that the 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh is doing “okay—they’re keeping an eye on him.”

The queen’s husband was admitted to the King Edward VII hospital for “rest as recuperation” on February 16. Prince Charles was photographed visiting his father Saturday, with a palace spokesperson maintaining that the queen’s husband is in “good spirits.”

William was visiting a pop-up vaccination centre at the King’s Lynn Corn Exchange to pay tribute to the “incredible efforts and dedication of the staff involved,” Kensington Palace shares in a statement with BAZAAR.com.

During his visit, the duke—who has yet to receive his vaccination—spoke to National Health Service (NHS) staff and volunteers about the ongoing successful rollout of vaccinations in the United Kingdom. Currently, more than 17.5 million people in the nation have received their first jab; all adults are expected to receive theirs by July 31.

Last month, William shared his happiness at seeing the queen and Philip receive their first rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations. “My grandparents have had the vaccine and I’m very proud of them for doing that,” he told U.K.-based frontline workers during a video call engagement. “It’s really important that everyone gets their vaccine.”
