Princess Kate made her first visit with the 1st Battalion Irish Guards since she became their honorary colonel after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Princess of Wales geared up in camouflage apparel for the engagement, wearing a camo sports coat, olive green pants, dark brown lace-up boots, and a military green knit beanie.

At the Salisbury Plain Training Area, she met with guardsmen of Number One and Number Two Companies to hear about their recent deployment to security force assistance tasks across East Africa, where they have helped train park rangers who may encounter illegal poaching.

Kate also met with members of Number Three Company to learn more about medical training and casualty exercise. The exercise briefed the royal on how guardsmen encounter explosive ordnance, following the same demining training that the Irish Guards are currently delivering to Ukrainian Armed Forces. She actively participated in the training of battlefield casualty drills, which simulated the experience of assisting an injured soldier.

The visit ended with guardsmen demonstrating their weapons systems.

Sharing photos of the engagement online, the Waleses's Twitter account wrote, "A snowy morning with the @irish_guards on Salisbury Plain! The work of the Irish Guards is as wide-ranging as it is exemplary, from training park rangers on counter-poaching in East Africa to de-mining training for Ukrainian Armed Forces."

Kate last visited the Irish Guards in March 2022, when she and Prince William participated in the 1st Battalion's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
