Queen Elizabeth Makes A Rare Donation For Ukrainian Refugees
The British monarch made a "generous donation" to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Queen Elizabeth II showed her support for Ukrainian refugees by making a rare donation.
While the British monarch has not publicly commented on the Russian invasion against Ukraine, the U.K. charity Disasters Emergency Committee announced today that Her Majesty contributed a "generous" fund.
"Many thanks to Her Majesty The Queen for continuing to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and for making a generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal," the group wrote on Twitter. Buckingham Palace confirmed to The Sun that the queen donated via her private fund, but did not disclose the amount she gave.
The DEC, which is made up of 15 member charities that specialize in different areas of humanitarian aid, comes together to raise funds during times of crisis overseas. The organization will use funds raised for its Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal for groups working with refugees on the ground in Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia, and Romania.
The Queen, who is normally bound to neutrality in political matters, postponed a diplomatic event that was scheduled to take place on March 2 in Windsor Castle following the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
"The Queen has accepted the Foreign Secretary's advice that the Diplomatic Reception at Windsor on Wednesday 2nd March should be postponed," a statement from Buckingham Palace read at the time.
The decision was made with the recommendation of the U.K.'s Foreign Secretary and was unrelated to the monarch's COVID-19 diagnosis, BAZAAR.com understands.
While the queen has not commented on the war, other members of the royal family, including Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, have condemned the attacks.
