Blessed with exotic good looks, bushy brows, wavy hair and pouty lips, Gavin Leatherwood is bound to cast a spell on you. Best known as bad boy warlock Nicholas Scratch on Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the 24-year-old Maui born hottie is not just another overnight sensation created by the streaming channel.
Since he was a child, Leatherwood shuffled from state to state as he grew up in California and moved to Oregon with his family when he was 18. He actually worked at Urban Outfitters for a few years before he packed his bags to New York for a change. There, he met an actor who inspired him to continue pursuing his acting career. And so, his couch-surfing journey began as he attended acting audition after audition whilst cold-calling agencies. Not just bewitching with his looks, Leatherwood is a hardy, goal-getter.
At the tender age of six, Leatherwood developed his inner thespian by participating in legendary playwright Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. From there, he stepped up his game by appearing in a nationwide production of Peter Pan, where he portrayed John Darling. After his stints on stage, the curly haired actor dived into the small screen with small roles on NCIS and Grown-ish, which he was starring alongside Yara Shahidi. Prior to his big break on CAOS, he was interested in auditioning for Harvey Kinkle until he was drawn into Scratch’s chaotic charisma.
While every Netflix hottie is expected to treat themselves to a nature-filled excursion sans shirt on Instagram (e.g. *cough* Noah Centineo and KJ Apa), Leatherwood strays from the cliché. Whether it’s holding a Marlon Brando biography, name dropping philosophers or wearing a panda face mask, Greendale’s hottest warlock is the perfect combination of brains and beauty; wit and candour. Not to forget, he can play the guitar, draw on an iPad and is nice at ping pong. Talk about an brawny, artistic intellectual.
