Yesterday, the actress took to social media to share a few behind-the-scenes snaps from her time on set filming her new hit Netflix movie, which she stars in opposite John David Washington. Captured by Zendaya herself with a nostalgic handheld camera, the images see the actress relaxing in between filming takes and snapping pics of the microscopic crew that helped bring the movie to life.

“M&M,” Zendaya captioned the series, which also features intimate on-set images of the film’s director, Sam Levinson, and costar, Washington. In one photo, Zendaya is seen taking a snap of her reflection in a mirror while wearing the signature cutout metallic gown, custom made by Jason Rembert from Aliette, showcased in the first part of the film.

Zendaya recently opened up about the controversy surrounding the film, most specifically the age gap between her and Washington, who portrays her lover in the film. Zendaya is 24 years old, while Washington is 36.
“I’ve played a 16-year-old since I was 16. You have to remember, also, people grew up with me as a child,” the actress told E! News. “It’s like watching, I guess, your younger sibling now, you know, they’re grown. … So it’s hard for people to wrap around the idea that I am grown in real life. You know, even though I do play a teenager on television still.”
