During an appearance on the U.K.’s Graham Norton Show, David Beckham joked about one-upping his son, Brooklyn, on social media, but still questioned his cool-factor as a parent.

“Even though he doesn’t think I’m a cool dad, I still find him wearing my clothes every day!” the 40-year-old told Norton, talking about that time he hilariously called out Brooklyn on Instagram for stealing “old school Ralph Lauren” from his closet. (“It was my jumper, so I had to tell him.”)

Still, the soccer legend was quick to admit that his 16-year-old is starting to steal the spotlight away from him. “When we’re out, he gets recognized so much that I’m literally known as Brooklyn’s dad now,” he began to explain. “I’m the one that takes the picture of him—”

And that’s when the show’s host had to cut him off: “Yeeeah, no one’s buyin’ that.”

Nice try, Becks.
