David and Victoria Beckham celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in Paris this week, enjoying a romantic dinner in the city of love.

The couple shared photos of their evening on their Instagram pages, which featured the pair dining al fresco and Victoria affectionately touching David's hand. The fashion designer captioned her photo: "19 years!!! X I love u so much x"

Meanwhile, the former footballer couldn't resist gently mocking the matching purple outfits they wore on their wedding day back in 1999.

"19 Years WOW... This time 19 years ago I was dressed from head to toe in purple... Happy anniversary to the most amazing wife & mummy ... Love You," David posted.

The pair married on 4 July 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle, just outside Dublin. The former Spice Girl wore a champagne-coloured Vera Wang gown with a 20-foot train. It was reported at the time that a single white dove was released as they said their vows and a purple flag raised above the castle with the letters V.B.D.

For the reception, the couple - and their son Brooklyn - changed into matching purple outfits designed by Antonio Berardi, and later sat on custom-made thrones.

David and Victoria were recently forced to deny rumours that they were set to separate, with Victoria's representative dismissing the claims as "nonsense". Speaking recently about how she balances a busy work life with her family life at a summit in New York, the designer revealed: "I try really, really hard.

"I try hardest to be the best mother. I am trying to be the best wife and the best professional. When I get home I try to put the phone down and spend time with the children and spend time with David."

It's likely that the couple have been mingling with the fashion elite in Paris for the couture shows which are currently taking place in the city.

Victoria also posted a clip of the very expensive red wine she shared with David - a bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1990, which can sell for over £1000.
