Chrissy Teigen walked the red carpet at last night’s Academy Awards with husband John Legend in a custom Marchesa fishtail gown featuring nude tulle with garnet crystal and bronze floral embroidery. The Lip Sync Battle co-host and Cravings author got a sneak peek of the Marchesa Fall 2016 collection and selected two styles to be handmade to her growing measurements in the weeks leading up to the red carpet, finally selecting the jewel-toned option for the awards ceremony after fittings with Chapman in Los Angeles. “This look was inspired by the undeniable femininity of John Singer Sargent portraits and the serenity of London’s Highgrove Gardens,” co-designer Keren Craig explained, “We couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to bring this regal yet daring style to life. We are honored to dress Chrissy for such an important occasion–she looks radiant.”
Georgina Chapman arrived in Los Angeles earlier this week for fittings with Chrissy, as well as for her own red carpet prep. The co-designer donned another look from her Fall 2016 collection for the biggest night in film, a nude tulle A-line ball gown with blush and ivory 3D feather floral embroidery and touches of fuchsia.
“Chrissy fell in love with this look the moment we debuted it on the runway at New York Fashion Week. This is such an exciting time for her and we are thrilled she chose to work with [us]. We worked closely with Chrissy to ensure the fit was absolutely perfect for her growing bump,” shared Chapman before choosing her jewels and dressing herself for the evening’s affairs.
