This year’s Disney D23 Expo has been filled with even more announcements than usual, thanks to the company’s forthcoming streaming service, Disney+, and the many live-action movie remakes set to hit our screens in the coming years.

While the revelation of Kit Harington‘s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was undoubtedly exciting, as was Hilary Duff‘s Lizzie McGuire news, there’s one announcement that topped the rest.

Disney released the first photo of Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone dressed as villain Cruella de Vil, and her transformation is, frankly, astounding. Sharing the news on Twitter, Disney wrote, “Here’s your first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in Disney’s Cruella. The film, also starring Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry, comes to theaters May 28, 2021.”

According to Variety, Stone appeared via video message to reveal that the movie “will take place in the punk rock era of the 1970s.” Everything about Stone’s costume in the snap is spot on, including the fact that she’s wielding three Dalmatians on leashes, presumably long before she decided to make a coat out of them.
