George Clooney Says That Meghan Is Being "Vilified" Just As Diana Was
"We've seen how that ends"

George Clooney speaks out on Meghan Markle
George Clooney has spoken out about the treatment of the Duchess of Sussex in the press, comparing her to Princess Diana in the way she was once "vilified".
The actor – who was in attendance at Meghan and Harry's wedding last May – made the comments in an interview where it was suggested that Clooney may be the unborn baby's godfather. He laughed it off and used the opportunity to stand up for the duchess, who he feels has been unfairly treated by the tabloids.

"I do want to say, I just saw this piece," Clooney told Sky News, referring to the now-published private letter that Meghan wrote to her father Thomas Markle. "They're just chasing Meghan everywhere, she's being pursued and vilified."

"She's a woman who is seven months pregnant and she is being pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it's history repeating itself. And we've seen how that ends."

Clooney went on to say that it was "irresponsible" the way that Meghan is being treated: "I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see that. You're taking a letter from a daughter to a father and broadcasting it everywhere. She's getting a raw deal there, it's irresponsible. I am sort of surprised by that."
The Duchess' father, who pulled out of attending her wedding due to health reasons at the last minute, has repeatedly given interviews to the tabloids about his now-strained relationship with his daughter. This weekend, Markle released a private letter Meghan wrote to him last year.
