Instagram Live Special: Multi-Hyphenate Eleanor Lee Performs Her Favourite Songs

Music has always been June cover star Eleanor Lee's number one passion. “My first dream was to be a singer,” says the multi-hyphenate in our cover story. “I’ve always liked singing, writing my own music—it’s the most important part of me.” On her musical talent and creative process, she adds: “I didn’t learn all the music stuff; I’m self-taught and I just play by ear. I’ll write the lyrics first and then I’d play a melody on the piano or the guitar.”

The rising star, who recently signed with a recording label, already has four singles and an eponymous EP under her belt. She counts Taylor Swift as her idol, and hopes to be as personal when it comes to writing her songs. “Listening to her music is like opening her diary. Her songs are her stories and you know the feeling because you’ve been through the same stuff.” In the same vein, Eleanor writes about her feelings and life as a young adult: "I’m just like everyone else—I have family problems, friendship problems, relationship problems.”
