K-Pop Boy Band BTS Just Set Records With Their New English Single ‘Dynamite’

When pop sensation BTS released their new music video for Dynamite on midnight of Aug 21, it blew up on YouTube, racking in a jaw-dropping 101.1 million views within 24 hours of its release, according to the video platform.

It was also reported by YouTube that more than 3 million viewers tuned in concurrently when the video premiered.

What this means is, the sensational boy band has dethroned Blackpink’s last single How You Like That, which had 86.3 million views within 24 hours of its release back in June.

And if that’s not impressive enough, BTS also topped the Billboard US singles chart and won the Best Pop award at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, beating heavyweights such as Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

In the Dynamite video, the boy band danced happily through a basketball court, donut shop dressed in vintage styles. 

RM, the leader of BTS, said in an interview with Zane Lowe at Apple Music that Dynamite is “made of positive vibes, energy, hope, love, the purity, everything.”

“Recording this song was really fun, and like Jin said, we’re going through difficult times so we tried to have more fun working on this song. We made this song in hopes of giving energy to the listeners. We’re glad this song turned out great and hope a lot of our fans can listen to it to receive the positive energy we tried to incorporate in the song.”

BTS is made up of Kim Tae-hyung (better known as V), Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope), Kim Nam-joon (RM), Kim Seok-jin (Jin), Park Ji-min, Jeon Jung-kook, and Min Yoon-gi (Suga).
