Just days after announcing that he would be running for president in the 2020 election, Kanye West appears to have dropped out of the race.

West’s late entrance into the 2020 election meant that he had missed the filing deadlines to appear on various state ballots.

In anticipation of his presidential campaign, the infamous MAGA-hat wearer also recently said that he no longer supports President Donald Trump.

  • President Ye is seemingly no longer a possibility for the 2020 presidential election. Just days after Kanye West announced that he would be running as a third-party candidate, the rapper and former Trump supporter has reportedly dropped out of the race.

Yesterday, “get-out-the-vote specialist” Steve Kramer told Intelligencer that West ended his bid for the White House. “I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye,” he told the outlet. “Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.” He added that “any candidate running for president for the first time goes through these hiccups.”

West’s late entrance to the 2020 election also meant that he missed many filing deadlines to appear on the ballot in various states. Kramer told Intelligencer that West hired him to help put his name on the ballot in Florida and South Carolina.

The rapper also recently told Forbes that he’s hanging up his red MAGA hat. “It looks like one big mess to me,” he said of the current administration. “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker,” he added, referring to the time that the president reportedly hid in a secret bunker while Black Lives Matter demonstrators protested the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor outside the White House.

Even so, West’s opinion of Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, is lukewarm at best. “Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special,” he opined. “Joe Biden’s not special.”
