We have never known much about how the Duchess of Cambridge spends her time off from attending fundraises and royal trips abroad, but we got a small glimpse into her life recently when the illustrator Johanna Basford (known for her intricate adult coloring books) made a trip to Buckingham Palace.
Prince William presented the artist with an Order of the British Empire for services to art and entrepreneurship, and mentioned that his wife Kate Middleton is a big fan of her work. Basford told the Press Association, “I think we’ve just seen the coloring community flourish. And Prince William actually said that his wife likes to color in the Secret Garden, which was really sweet.”
Yes, Kate Middleton loves adult coloring books just as much as you do.
Secret Garden is a coloring book for adults; it was the illustrator’s first book and has sold more than one million copies. Adult coloring books are becoming increasingly popular as a form of stress relief, now that it is a royal past time it’s popularity will no doubt continue to grow.
