Prince William and Kate Middleton are continuing to put in work in the time of social distancing.

Today, the royal couple reached out to teachers and staff at Casterton Primary Academy in Burnley, England, who are among the many educators across the U.K. keeping schools open so that children of essential workers and vulnerable children have somewhere to stay. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thanked the teachers and chatted with students about the activities they’ve been pursuing during this unprecedented time, whether it’s crafts or painting.

Kate, wearing a sunny yellow blouse, said of the children staying safe at school during this time, “The normality is there for them and they’ve got the structure and they’ve got a safe place for them to be.”

She also praised the educators for their work. “Really, really well done to all of you,” she said. “I know it’s not easy circumstances, but it’s fantastic.” One of her royal patronages, the charity Place2Be, is supporting the ongoing education program at Casterton Primary.

As for William and Kate’s own kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte‘s school, Thomas’s Battersea in London, switched to remote learning on March 20 as people stay home during the ongoing health crisis. But amid homeschooling, the six- and four-year-old siblings also made an appearance with younger brother Prince Louis on the Kensington Royal Instagram account to cheer on healthcare workers on the frontlines of the global pandemic.

The Cambridges are believed to be staying indoors at Anmer Hall, their country home on the queen’s Sandringham Estate.
