– Ellen DeGeneres recently brought the stars of a viral video of Belgian dancers, coach Jeny Bonsenge and her nine-year-old student, Anae, onto her talk show—at the encouragement of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
– DeGeneres revealed that the duchess texted her a video of the pair dancing, ultimately prompting the TV show host to invite the duo on for a guest appearance.
It is the ultimate wish of any star of a viral video to get an invite to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. That wish came true for the Belgian dance duo made up of choreographer Jeny Bonsenge and her nine-year-old prodigy, Anae. The pair appeared for an interview on the show last week after a video of them dancing reached more than 16 million views. But first, they got a little boost from Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
During the interview, Ellen DeGeneres revealed that the duchess had texted her the viral video, which ultimately prompted DeGeneres to invite Bonsenge and Anae onto the show.
“Do you know how I found the two of you?” DeGeneres asked. “Meghan Markle sent me this video. She texted me and said, ‘What do you think of this, how great is this girl?'”
The pair responded with faces of pure astonishment.
DeGeneres and Meghan are known friends. After she and Prince Harry announced that they would be suing various British tabloids following an alleged incident of phone hacking and the publication of a private letter, DeGeneres took to her own airwaves to defend the royal couple.
Speaking to polo player Nacho Figueras, DeGeneres said, “You and I feel very strongly in support of what’s happening right now to protect themselves, because I met them through you, like you said, and I learned just how much scrutiny that they’re under all the time.”
