- This Christmas, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry plan to skip the royal holiday fête at Sandringham to be with Meghan's mother.

- Spending the holidays away from the U.K. also means that baby son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's first Christmas will be spent in the U.S.

It looks like baby Archie's first Christmas will be spent in the U.S.!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are planning to spend their first Christmas together as a family in the U.S., skipping the usual, royal holiday affair at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month," a spokesperson for the Sussexes said in a statement. "Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland."

The spokesperson added that the shift in location was not unusual. "This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen," the statement continues.

For example, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, also skipped the holidays at the Sandringham Estate in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

This news follows on the heels of Meghan and Prince Harry announcing their temporary break from royal duties, which began after Remembrance Day events last weekend. It was also reported that they would split their time between the U.K. and the U.S., spending a majority of their time in Meghan's home country.

In addition to Christmas, baby Archie will also spend his first Thanksgiving in the U.S.

The palace didn't confirm the location of the Sussexes' Christmas celebrations, but they're believed to take place in California, as that is where Meghan's mother is based.
