Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be missing Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding in Jodphur, India this weekend, sources tell BAZAAR.com.
“There are no plans” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend, a palace insider reveals. “The couple was invited to all of the celebrations in India, but given how much travel would be involved for Meghan, who’s now five months pregnant, they decided against it,” the source added.
Chopra and Jonas are set to tie the knot at Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace, with wedding celebrations and ceremonies stretching from today to December 2. The guest list remains top secret, but members of Jonas’ family, including his brothers Joe and Kevin and Joe’s fiancée Sophie Turner, have already arrived or are currently en route to India.
Chopra, who is good friends with Meghan, first met the former Suits star at ELLE‘s Women in Television dinner a few years ago. Since then, the duo remained close, and Chopra was one of several of the Duchess of Sussex’s friends to attend her royal wedding to Prince Harry in May.
After rumors of Chopra and Jonas’ engagement began in July, it was reported that the Duchess of Sussex approved of the couple’s relationship. A source told E! News that Meghan was “very excited” for the duo. “Everyone is very happy and they are definitely a great match,” an insider said at the time.
Us Weekly also reported that the two couples had a double date at the Sussexes’ home in Oxfordshire, England. The hangout is said to have taken place the same week as Chopra and Jonas’ engagement, as the “Jealous” singer popped the question in London.
