Michelle Williams may play Janis Joplin in a new film, Variety reports. If confirmed, the actress will take on the part of the iconic musician in a biopic directed by Sean Durkin.
The movie, entitled Janis, is to be based on the singer’s sister Laura Joplin’s book Love, Janis. It will be used to create a depiction of the last six months of the 1960s singer’s life before she died of a drug overdose, aged 27.
This is not the only Joplin biopic in the making with Get It While You Can – a film focused on a single day of her life – currently stuck in litigation after a lawsuit was filed against the writer. Amy Adams was set to take the lead.
