If Rihanna walked up to you out of nowhere and told you to buy something, you’d do it without a question, right? Nobody is powerful enough to resist Rihanna, and a new study proves it.
A study by The NPD Group, a market research firm, found that Rihanna is the most marketable celebrity in the world. The Rihanna Navy has “more distinctive brand preferences” than fans of any other big-name celebrity, meaning she has 3.7 times as many endorsement opportunities as the average star.
In second place was none other than Beyoncé, followed by Ne-Yo, Usher, and Wiz Khalifa. Perhaps surprisingly, the study found that Rihanna fans were especially likely to prefer Jeep as a brand, so don’t be surprised if you see her driving one in a commercial soon.
But wait! A separate study that was also just released says another pop star is actually the most marketable: Taylor Swift. This study comes from a separate market research company,Repucom, and focused on sponsorship of live music. The report found that millennials and younger generations in America like Swift more than any other performer, placing her ahead of Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé. Rihanna didn’t rank among the top artists on this list, possibly because the world is anxiously awaiting Anti and the upcoming tour.
So if you’re a company and want to sponsor a musician’s tour, go with Taylor. But if you’re a car company and want to put a celebrity in an ad, go with Rihanna all the way. Either way, it’s amazing to know that women are leaving guys in the dust when it comes to raking in advertising cash.
