Despite the rather dismal box-office outlook for Ghostbusters, studios are (thankfully) still green-lighting female-driven remakes of Hollywood classics. Today, Warner Bros. announced plans for an Ocean’s Eleven remake starring a positively mind-blowing group of women. Are you ready for this? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham-Carter, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna and rapper Awkwafina are set to star. Yes, you read that right.
Production on Ocean’s Ocho will commence in New York City in October. Gary Ross will direct, with Steven Soderbergh, who directed the 2001 version, producing. Ross co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch.
An eighth role is still being cast. Let the conjecturing begin…
