Looking for a uniquely Singaporean shopping experience? We might just have the answer for you: Design Orchard is set to feature over 60 local retail brands across fashion, accessories, beauty and lifestyle products. This 2.5 storey development is part of Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) ongoing efforts to cultivate and nurture homegrown brands and local talent. Come January 25, shoppers can not only look forward to an extensive shopping experience but can expect a series of workshops by local designers and artists as well as mentorship programmes throughout the year.
Naiise, a homegrown design company, will host and operate this retail showcase. A strong advocate for local entrepreneurship, the team continues its long-term commitment to nurture local talent, with a focus on emerging local brands new to the market. With the launch of a mentorship programme targeted at these new-to-market brands, Naiise aims to leverage its retail expertise and provide holistic guidance to enhance and aid the development of the brands.
CEO of Naiise, Dennis Tay, said of this initiative: “We are excited to be operating the retail showcase at Design Orchard to make local design accessible via a dynamic retail experience enhanced by technology. Furthering our goal to offer support to local brands, we are also delighted to be able to offer mentorship programs to help our brands grow. We believe the retail showcase at Design Orchard will raise the profile of local designers to both local and international shoppers alike and in the process, foster greater appreciation for their heritage, design, craft and passion.”
The building boasts of a rooftop plaza and an incubation space comprising of private work studios, co- working spaces and a photography studio to provide a nurturing and conducive environment where designers can excel in their crafts. Situated in the heart of Orchard, this retail showcase aims to give local retail brands greater exposure to the market, cultivating a supportive and collaborative industry that celebrates both international and local brands.
