The Queen's Diplomatic Reception is one of the biggest formal events of the year. Royal attendees break out their most stunning tiaras and ballgowns for the private occasion, but this year, no one looked more majestic than the sovereign herself.

For the reception, Her Majesty set aside her usual florescent wardrobe choices in favor of an exquisite cream and gold gown. The design included delicate floral patterns and tiers of sequined, scalloped lace over a white column skirt.

Her accessories were equally stunning, including a sash and badges, a bold diamond necklace, a metallic gold purse, and matching shoes. It's impossible to miss her Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, one of the Queen's most famous headpieces, which was commissioned in 1893 by the high-end jeweler Garrard and features a dazzling set of diamonds.

The monarch hosts the Diplomatic Reception, an annual white-tie holiday party, at Buckingham Palace in early December. The gala is attended by foreign diplomats and ambassadors based in London and supports the royal family's work in the UK and abroad, according to the Palace.

Other attendees at tonight's fête included Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge. While Duchess Camilla opted for a luxe white gown and tiara like her mother-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge was predictably stylish in her favorite Lover's Knot Tiara, pearl earrings, and a dress fit for a Disney princess.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were unable to attend the reception, as they had a prior commitment with the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund, a favorite charity of theirs.
