If you’ve seen all of Bridgerton Season 1, you’ll be well aware that there are some pretty steamy sex scenes in the Netflix series. And while viewers may have enjoyed watching Regé-Jean Page, who plays the Duke of Hastings, get up to no good with costar Phoebe Dynevor, also known as Daphne Bridgerton, his family members were less enthused.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Page revealed that he used a group chat to warn family members of which episodes they should avoid. “We’ve got a family WhatsApp group, so there’s a couple flashing red light emojis and there’s the odd peach emoji—certain people have threatened to rate my peach,” he told the host.
However, according to Page, he failed to warn all of his family members, meaning that some of his cousins got a shock when Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, started undressing onscreen.
“A couple of cousins missed the memo,” he hilariously told Norton. “So they’re watching the show and I got a very stern message in my Instagram DMs just going, ‘There really needs to be a cousin warning.'”
Page also revealed that one of his cousins had a method for trying to avoid watching his sex scenes, but it wasn’t always successful. Apparently the cousin revealed, “I had to make so many tactical cups of tea—I left the room to make my tactical cup of tea and came back and you were still going!'”
However, it’s pretty safe to say that most viewers enjoyed the scenes in question.
