If you weren’t excited for this year’s MTV VMAs, allow Bad Gal Riri to step in. The singer just announced she’ll be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her impact on music, pop culture and fashion at this year’s award ceremony. Along with receiving the esteemed award, Rihanna will also open up the show with a live performance at Madison Square Garden.
In the past, the Vanguard Award has gone to Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé and most recently, Kanye West, who took home the award last year with a very long acceptance speech.
The most important question is, what will Bad Gal Riri wear to accept the award?
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Madison Square Garden in NYC on Sunday, August 28 at 9 PM EST.
