Scarlett Johansson lands her first Oscar nomination

Scarlett Johansson has been nominated for an Oscar for the very first time. But more impressively, the actress didn’t receive just one, but two nominations.

The actress has been nominated for Best Lead Actress in Marriage Story and again in the Supporting Actress category for Jojo Rabbit.

Johansson is joined in the Best Actress category by Renee Zellweger for Judy, Charlize Theron for Bombshell, Saoirse Ronan for Little Women and Cynthia Ervio for Harriet.

In the Supporting Actress category, she’s up against her co-star Laura Dern for Marriage Story, Margot Robbie for Bombshell, Florence Pugh for Little Women and Kathy Bates for Richard Jewell.

Joker received an impressive 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, plus eight other awards reports the BBC.

Phoenix is joined in the Best Actor category by Adam Driver for Marriage Story, Leonardo DiCaprio for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Antonio Banderas for Pain and Glory and Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes.

The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood follow the comic book villain story with 10 nominations each.

Within the Best Director category, there’s only male contenders up for the accolade, including Martin Scorsese for The Irishman, Bong Joon Ho for Parasite, Quentin Tarantino for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Sam Mendes for 1917 and Todd Phillips for Joker.
