Hulu's Normal People is arguably one of 2020's most salacious shows, fulfilling all our repented quarantine desires. We live vicariously through the raw, millennial romance portrayed between Paul Mescal and Sally Rooney. However, behind the natural chemistry and passion, it is refreshing to know that 24-year-old Mescal is nothing like his onscreen persona Connell Waldron—he's actually more a wholesome country boy and less... sleazy jock.

If his online persona hasn't already got you hot and bothered, social media might do the trick for you. He has an Instagram account dedicated to his necklace. Dubbed "connellschain", the page has already amassed more than 184,000 followers with its many weekly "thirsty" posts.

Referred to as a "nuanced symbol of middle-class upbringing", this metal chain has followed him through many a sweaty sex scene and an intimate frolic around the pool. Proving to be a man with a heart, another reason why we can't help but love Mescal, is because after all the attention brought on by the chain, he decided to auction it off for charity. He ultimately raised £11,902 (approx $20,603) towards providing support for individuals dealing with suicidal thoughts and self harm.

Although the series does contain its fair amount of nudity, let's not forget that Paul has the perfect "big spoon" arms. He's not too muscular and is just toned enough to support you thought nighttime cuddles and greet you with open arms after a long day at the office (hey, we can all dream).

Although not exactly the most realistic depiction of young love, he's very much the kind of guy we would all like to navigate the tribulations of early adult life with.

While most of us wait with anticipation for season 2, fans of the Sally Rooney novel adaptation can breathe easy because Comic Relief co-founder Richard Curtis has announced that Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones will be reprising their roles as Connell and Marianne in a two-episode special on RTE Does Comic Relief so we won't have to wait too long to see the duo back on screen.
