
We Singaporeans do love all things French, from the fashion, the food, the drinks and the culture. For those who have not gotten the chance to visit France or is planning to, get ready for a month filled with all things French this coming month.
The Voilah! France Singapore Festival is back and the festival presents the best of France-Singapore collaborations in the realms of culture, education, science, lifestyle, tourism and sports through diverse and engaging events all across the island. A meeting point between French and Singaporean communities, Voilah! is a celebration of the deep and long-standing relationships between France and Singaporean partners.

Held from 3 October to 17 November, Voilah! 2019 is presented by the Embassy of France in Singapore and supported by close to 100 Singaporean and French institutions. For more information, visit www.voilah.sg.

Immerse yourself in street art and gastronomy at SO/Sofitel Singapore. Witness a spectacular display of artworks by French artist Jisbar Planche. Opening Night – Enjoy an evening of French arts, food and wine on 4 October, 6pm to 9pm! Guests will delight in canapés, champagne and a collection 8 artworks by Jisbar Planche at the welcome reception. This will be followed by a specially curated 3-course menu paired with premium French wines from Xperience Restaurant. SO/Sofitel is offering a complimentary artisan cheese selection and a dozen Fine De Claire oysters for every Taittinger Champagne bottle purchased during Voilah.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary of supporting French Design, Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement, presents NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE. The exhibition has already travelled to many different countries, joining major international design events, sharing the very best of French Design. Curated by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the forty pieces exhibited have been carefully selected to represent the last ten years of French design production, and showcase works by Philippe Starck, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec, matali crasset, Mathieu Lehanneur, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Christian Liaigre and Jean Nouvel, in a poetic scenography.

Jean-Yves Bordier, the last artisan butter-maker still kneading its churned butter by hand, will be in ATOUT for a special workshop and dinner. Come and join Jean-Yves who will be sharing his knowledge about butter and the stories that led his artisanal products to be famous all around the world. The workshop will include a demonstration of “tapage” and a degustation. It will be followed by a special dinner prepared by the ATOUT team.

The Singapore French Film Festival will be back from 4 to 17 November. Organised by the Embassy of France, in collaboration with local and distributors and partners, its 35th edition will feature an exciting lineup comprising of 25+ recently released movies for everyone including comedies, romance and dramas. This year, be ready for a special treat with the newly added Sexy Section which will showcase a selection of both contemporary and classic movies! Luc Besson fans will be able to catch some of his
timeless cult classic films (Nikita, Leon, The Fifth Element) at The Projector where a selection of contemporary films by French director Mia Hansen-Løve will also be screened. And finally, for the first time, screenings of French animated movies.

Culinary designer Simone Fraternali has curated an indulgent 5-course degustation paired with a range of five carefully selected premium wines from Champagne, Burgundy, Northern Rhône and Bordeaux. Gain insights from Asia Wine Cellar’s wine specialist who has handpicked these French gems to showcase during Voilah! France Singapore Festival 2019. Commence the journey with two canapés paired with a glass of André Jacquart Vertus Champagne, followed by two starters and a Domaine Francois Gaunoux Meursault from Burgundy. Indulge in two main courses delicately selected to match an exquisite Jean-Michel Stephan from Côte Rotie and a Château Haut-Bage Liberal from Pauillac, Bordeaux.
