Why the New Kylie Lip Kit Shade Was Removed From Instagram

You might have seen a new Kylie Cosmetics matte lipstick colour floating around the Internet this weekend. It looked like a reddish brown shade in gold packaging emblazoned with BIRTHDAY EDITION. It's allegedly called "Leo," which is also Kylie Jenner's sign (her birthday is Aug. 10). And then *POOF*, photos of the secret colour were gone. Some of your fave beauty "scoop" Instagram accounts were gone too. So, what happened?

According to Instagram account The Lip Snitches, Kylie Cosmetics' legal team contacted the account to remove the pictures, citing that they were leaked without Kylie's approval.

"As the first person to post it, I feel greatly responsible for all the accounts that have been penalized for the picture & for the other repercussions some people have had to face," The Lip Snitches wrote on Insta. "Just wanted to apologize to everyone & Kylie Cosmetics! Lesson learned, in the future I'll be making sure I check sources, facts, & trademarks more in depth! If you know me, you know know I'm about honesty & what I posted yesterday was not a representation of that, whether it's a big deal to some or small to others. I never want to my account to become so obsessed with getting a 'scoop' that I forget about PEOPLE & how to treat them, whether it's Kylie Jenner or an account with 10 followers!! (It was Kylie's property & I should have respected that)."

Kylie did confirm on Twitter that new shades are coming soon, so "Leo" might be one of them.

We won't be posting the leaked photo, which you can still find on certain accounts, because The Lip Snitches is right. The photo is Kylie's property, and you'll probably only have to wait a little while before she shares the colours with fans herself, when she wants to. It's also a good lesson we can all learn from. Be careful what you regram and share publicly.

Seventeen.com has reached out to Kylie Cosmetics for comment and will update this post when they hear back.
