Yolanda Hadid, the super mom to supermodels Gigi, Bella, and Anwar, just celebrated her 55th birthday. To honor the occasion, Hadid took to Instagram to post a selfie and update fans on her health after a long and public battle with Lyme Disease. The former model hashtagged the lingerie photo with #shamelessselfie—but the message in the caption revealed something much deeper about Hadid’s relationship with physical beauty and aging.

❤️Fifty Five and smiling from the inside out…. Finally back to the original 1964. Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, exstensions and all the bullshit I thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a sexy woman should look like until the toxicity of it all almost killed me………. Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body. It took me many years of undoing some bad choices I made for myself before I finally found the freedom to sustainable internal beauty and acceptance of what is the best version of myself by nobody’s standards but my own…………………….It’s on us to learn to love our selves and celebrate our unique, one of a kind beauty at all ages as we move through this journey called “life”. Beauty has no meaning without your health………………. #ShamelessSelfie #55 #BeautyStartsFromWithin #AgeComesWithWisdom

Hadid has previously spoken out about how she stopped getting Botox injections and dermal fillers years ago after being diagnosed with Lyme.

Hadid had her silicone breast implants removed on an episode of Real Housewives back in 2016 after learning that she had silicone free-floating in her body. “Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body,” she continued on Instagram.

❤️Although 2018 wasn’t my personal best as I struggled through a relapse of Lyme due to black mold exposure in my home which compromised my immune system, needless to say a big disappointment in the health department but today I choose to look at the bright side, the growth and success of my children not only in business but the beautiful personal life we have created together on our east coast farm with our amazing animals. A sanctuary that has brought us much peace, love and happiness. So I choose to end this year in gratitude for all the great things that brought me joy and the lessons I needed to learn to during the tough times. Thank you all for your amazing support through this journey called life. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones, I pray that each day Love, health and happiness will come your way….. #HappyNewYear
