5 Binge Worthy Shows To Watch On Disney+ This Holiday Season

For us, the holiday season means unboxing presents on Christmas morning and nursing a glass of wine (or hot cocoa) while watching festive movies with loved ones. To help kickstart your movie marathon list, we’ve shortlisted five must-watch shows on Disney+, including the latest Marvel Studios series Hawkeye.

1. Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye

Set against a snow-filled New York City, follow Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and his protégé Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) as they join forces to unravel a criminal conspiracy concocted by past enemies, and try to make it home in time for Christmas.

2. Home Sweet Home Alone

Macaulay Culkin in the 1990 film Home Alone is a Christmas classic—and for good reason too. Almost two decades later, the Home Alone franchise is back with its sixth edition which follows Max Mercer (Archie Yates) who was left behind by his family as they make their way to Japan for the holidays. Unlike the original movie where two men try to break into the home, this version shows a married couple eyeing the Mercer’s family home with Max going all out to defend it.

3. Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas

Oh, how we love the Ice Age franchise! And lucky for us, there's a Christmas-themed version. Here’s how the story goes: After ruining one of Manny’s many Christmas traditions by mistake, Sid finds himself on Santa’s naughty list. Together with Eddie, Crash and Peaches, he sets off on an adventure to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus to plead his case directly. Needless to say, hilarious antics take place along the way causing much hilarity.

4. FX’s A Christmas Carol

FX’s A Christmas Carol is based on Charles Dicken’s enigmatic ghost story by Steven Knight. The series follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a loan shark, and a visit by the ghost of his business partner Jacob Marly, a year after his death on Christmas Eve. Marley’s ghost pleads with Scrooge to change his selfish way to no avail…until he enlists the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to convince Scrooge to repent his misdeeds once and for all.

5. A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa

Here’s something for the kids that the whole family can enjoy. When Gonzo unintentionally stops three letters to Santa, he convinces Kermit and his merry band to help deliver them personally to Santa Claus. During their journey, the group discovers that Christmas is best spent with loved ones. The film, shot in Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan, stars Richard Griffiths, Uma Thurman, Nathan Lane and Whoopi Goldberg.

6. Bonus: Marvel Studio’s Eternals

Arguably the most high-anticipated Marvel film since Avengers: Endgame and Black Widow, Marvel Studio’s Eternals is coming to Disney+ on 12 January 2022. It joins 13 other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies now streaming on the platform.

Directed by Academy Award-winning director Chloe Zhao, Eternals follows a group of heroes from beyond the galaxy who have protected Earth since the beginning of time. When monstrous creatures long though lost to history named Deviants mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

The film’s star-studded cast includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, with Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena.

All this and more, only on Disney+.
