1. Fumi Lee

We’d expect nothing less than a great wardrobe from a personal stylist and haute couture enthusiast. Fumi Lee’s walk-in wardrobe, which she shares with her husband, mirrors the Modernist nature of their sleek bungalow on Caldecott Hill. The room features a shoe wall piled high with jewel-toned heels, a glass-top island for jewellery in the middle of the room and three mannequins by the full-length glass window decked in Dior and Chanel haute couture.

That’s not all—Lee, an avid Chanel fan with a collection of more than 50 of their jackets, stores the rest of her pieces on the top floor of her home, by her personal quarters.

The semi-detached Bukit Timah home of architect Rene Tan is so unique it won an award in the Residential – Low-Density Housing category at the SIA Design Awards in 2020. One of the reasons driving the blood, sweat and tears that went into its design? Tan’s wife, Chuah Woei Woei. “I’m 57 and this might be the last chance I have to spoil my wife,” Tan told us during the interview in 2021. And spoil he did. Chuah’s wardrobe spans not just one but three separate areas—all with playful and apt names—dedicated to bags, shoes and clothes.
Chuah’s Shoe Sacristy.
The Shoe Sacristy is an arc-shaped room fitted with wall shelves that offer a panoramic view of an enviable collection of boots, wedges and heels.
Her Bag Bapistry.
Her two storey-high Bag Bapistry mirrors the Shoe Sacristy, in that it has curved shelves holding classic and novelty bags.
Her walk-in wardrobe, the Clothes Chapel, is a plush, carpeted space featuring a glass panel on the floor, which allows Chuah to see when her guests have arrived.

Any fashion lover would do almost anything for style maven Wendy Long’s massive wardrobe. Hers is no casual affair—its design is reminiscent of a Saint Laurent store, Long’s favourite fashion label. The French brand’s sleek, clean and minimal aesthetic is reflected here, in the high ceiling, large wall-mounted mirror and glass floor, which looks down to a flight of stairs below.

Pieces from Saint Laurent’s newest collections are displayed on the rack along the walls, while clothing from past collections and her large collection of accessories, from Dior hats to Chanel belts, are tucked safely away behind tinted glass sliding doors.

4. Heart Evangelista

Heart Evangelista is a front-row staple at fashion week, and her wardrobe—which she says is her favourite place in the world—reflects her passion for fashion. Each item holds a special place in her heart, from her Schiaparelli pieces to a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes bearing a message from the designer.
Her wardrobe is also fitted with a custom-made vanity.
Her penchant for collectibles large and small come through here, too. A large Labubu figurine is balanced on stacked Louis Vuitton trunks and her hand-painted Birkin bags in a range of colours, materials and sizes are neatly arranged on shelves. All these elements come together to make up Evangelista’s safe space, where she not only gets ready on most days but also dreams up her best ideas, surrounded by her team.

5. Arissa Ha

Beauty editor Arissa Ha’s wardrobe took months of careful planning and execution. The glass block wall in a corner of her living room, for example, was particularly challenging due to delays in shipment and precise measurements such that display shelves could be inserted seamlessly into the grout.

It paid off: the glass wall allows just enough natural light to stream into the wardrobe on the opposite side, lighting up the area with a curved metal shelf by Knella that holds her collection of Chanel, Prada and Dior bags and racks of clothing that display her love for black pieces and archival fashion.
