This lunar New Year, Apple released a heartwarming short film titled The Bucket, which explores Chinese family traditions in this festive season.

Shot entirely with an iPhone XS by acclaimed filmmaker Jia Zhangke, this film documents a young man’s journey as he returns home after visiting his mother in the countryside. She gifts him with a bucket to bring home- both a symbolic and practical tradition. In the film The bucket symbolises the depth of a parent’s love- unchanging and unfaltering. With iPhone XS’s depth-control function, Zhangke allows his audience to experience the emotive moments shared between the characters on an intimate level by bridging the distance between the actors and audience.
