- Over the weekend, Ariana Grande and her boyfriend, Dalton Gomez, joined protestors in Los Angeles to demand justice for the killing of George Floyd and an end to police brutality against Black people.

- Officers from the Minneapolis Police Department killed Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, after kneeling on his neck to the point of suffocation for several minutes.

- One of the officers involved, Derek Chauvin, has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder.

Ariana Grande is using her power and prowess to prop up Black Lives Matter. In addition to posting several resources in support of the movement, Grande and her boyfriend, Dalton Gomezjoined protestors in Los Angeles over the weekend to demand justice over the killing of George Floyd.

Last Monday, four officers responding to a call made by a store clerk about a man attempting to use a suspected counterfeit bill pinned Floyd to the ground with one officer kneeling on Floyd's neck to the point of suffocation for several minutes. The entire assault was captured on video, including Floyd's plea, "I can't breathe," which echoes that of Eric Garner, another Black man who was killed in a police choke hold. The chilling incident has served as yet another reminder to much of the systematic brutality against Black people at the hands of the police.
