Bella Hadid Pens Emotional Message Supporting Ariana Grande In Body Shaming Conversation

"Instead of unsolicited advice or opinions, judgement or aggression, just try to offer a helping hand and be kind."

Friends and fans are praising Ariana Grande after she shared a candid video gently urging people online to stop giving their opinions on other people's bodies—and among those supporting the pop star is supermodel Bella Hadid.

Hours after the "7 Rings" singer shared her emotional video on TikTok this Wednesday, Hadid reposted it on her Instagram. "You never know what someone is dealing with mentally or physically. Disease or depression. Grief or heartache. You just don’t, and you will never know until you walk in a day in their shoes," she wrote in the caption.

She then echoed Grande's sentiments, asking people to stop giving "unsolicited advice or opinions, judgement or aggression," and instead "just try to offer a helping hand and be kind."

In her video, Grande said that fans tend to believe that the body she had when she was at her most unhealthy is the body that looks best on her. "I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy but that in fact wasn’t my healthy," Grande said, adding that she is much healthier these days, and the body she has now is a product of that work and care.

Over the years, Hadid too has spoken of her body, her health issues, her history of eating disorders, and how people react to her looks. She has admitted that she wishes she had not gotten plastic surgery and lost the "nose of [her] ancestors." She has shared inspirational messages explaining that she is not responsible for people's fantasies of her. She has opened up about her relationship with food and her body dysmorphia. And recently, she shared a list of compliments people can give others that have nothing to do with physical beauty.

In her post supporting Grande, she wrote, "There is always a reason for the way people look/feel , so try to be soft , especially when you don’t know someone or what they’ve been through." She added, "Instagram is not real and we need to look deeper and consciously remind ourselves that each of us are just human beings trying our best."
