Few former couples have faced as much media scrutiny and public interest as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, but at the 2020 Golden Globes Pitt described his ex as a "good friend".

Talking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, the Once Upon A Time in Hollywood star was asked if he would be running into Aniston that night.

"I'll run into Jen... she's a good friend," he said. "It's the second most important reunion of her year."

He clarified, "That was a play on Friends", referring to the Instagram photo she shared in 2018 of the show cast together once again. The picture marked Aniston's debut on the social media platform and was liked by 15.5 million.

Aniston and Pitt were married from 2000 to 2005, but split amid rumours he had been seeing his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie.

Later at the awards, Pitt was recognised as Best Supporting Actor for Tarantino blockbuster Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. He joked in his speech that the reason he had attended alone, and not with a female relative, was because of any inevitable press speculation about the nature of their relationship. Aniston was seen laughing in the audience.
