Britney Spears Will Not Have To Sit Through A Deposition From Dad Jamie's Lawyers

It's the latest win for the pop star in her ongoing legal battle against her father.

Britney Spears will not have to sit through a deposition with her father's legal team, a judge ruled yesterday.

In the ongoing legal fight about Jamie Spears's handling of Britney's conservatorship, the attorneys for the pop star's father wanted to interrogate her about her allegations against him. Britney has repeatedly accused her estranged dad of mismanaging her conservatorship, forcing her to live by his rules for more than a decade, overworking her to the point of exhaustion, and getting rich from her earnings.

Last year, before her conservatorship was terminated, Britney spoke of her mental state to the court. "I'm not happy, I can't sleep. I'm so angry, it's insane. And I'm depressed," she said, per CNN. "My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship and my management … they should be in jail."

Judge Brenda Penny dissolved the "Toxic" singer's 13-year conservatorship last November. And earlier this month, she ruled that Jamie must sit for a deposition and produce documents that are being requested by Britney's legal team within the next 30 days in Los Angeles.

These documents are related to the pop star's allegations that her father hired a security firm to surveil her during her conservatorship and had them do things such as monitor her phone and bug her bedroom to record private conversations, per Variety.

Jamie, who denies any wrongdoing, then filed a motion calling for his eldest daughter to sit for a deposition, but Penny ruled that deposing Britney "is unlikely to provide any discoverable information," and denied his motion.
