From their actions to their appearances, celebrities and public figures are always under scrutiny – even when it comes to something as personal as weight. Besides getting harshly criticised or mocked for weight gain (remember Britney’s 2007 VMA performance?), celebrities have also been subjected to malicious gossip whenever they lose too much weight.

Just last month, Blackpink’s Rosé became a trending topic when fans noticed her unusually thin frame during a performance, sparking concerns that she might be on a diet that is too restrictive.

From Asian stars to Hollywood stars, we take a look at some recent incidents of famous people who caused worry with their drastic or sudden weight loss.

Videos of Rosé performing her solo stage during the Saint-Denis stop of Blackpink’s Born Pink World Tour quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons. Dressed in a cropped bandeau top, Rosé’s ribcage could be seen protruding out when she lifted her arms, prompting netizens to comment that she’s “basically skin and bones”. While the 1.68m songstress is known for having a slender frame, fans were shocked by just how skinny she has become and expressed concerns for her health.
