We’re in our Coachella era again, and we’re living for the fact that this year’s artiste lineup is stacked with our favourite Asian stars—many of whom will be performing at the California-based festival for the first time. K-Pop royalty Big Bang and SHINee’s Taemin, for one, are expected to hold court with their newest releases and top hits.

Internet darlings are aplenty too. Look forward to dynamic performances by girl groups Katseye and Bini, as well as crowd-favourite earworms from Fujii Kaze and Laufey.

Ahead of Coachella, happening over two weekends from 10 to 19 April, familiarise yourself with each artiste’s most popular tracks and lore below.

Katseye

Dates: 10 and 17 April

Songs to binge-listen: ”Touch”, “Gnarly” and “Internet Girl”

We’ve all heard and loved “Touch” and “Gabriela”, and now Katseye is about to take the Coachella stage by storm with their lineup of TikTok-viral hits. For the uninitiated, the band, composed of members from around the world, were put together through the 2023 reality series The Debut: Dream Academy. The group was formed with the intention of creating international superstars using the “K-Pop methodology”, something shared during a press conference by Hybe chairman Bang Si Hyuk, the maestro behind K-Pop super BTS.

The result? A girl group with distinctive catchy sound, flashy dance moves and a massive following.

Stay tuned for the drop of their new single, “Pinky Up”, on 9 April.

Bini

Dates: 10 and 17 April

Songs to binge-listen: “Honey Honey” and “Pantropiko”

Another girl group to catch at Coachella this year? Bini, the first all-Filipino act to perform at the festival since its inception. The eight members were selected in 2019 through Star Hunt Academy, a televised training programme, and have gone on to amass nearly two million monthly listeners on Spotify. They will be your go-to from now on, whenever you need a dose of energetic pop music to kickstart your day.

If you’re ready to be a Bini stan (or a ‘Bloom’), go back in time and listen to the group’s debut studio album Born To Win, a tracklist featuring the uplifting titular song that is also available in Bahasa, Japanese, Thai and Spanish. For a light and catchy listen, we love “I Feel Good”, and for something that’s reminiscent of your favourite pop songs, try “No Fear”.

You can also look forward to their third extended play, Signals, which will drop one day before they’re set to perform.

Taemin

Dates: 11 and 18 April

Songs to binge-listen: “Long Way Home” and “Move”

Before Taemin became your favourite idol’s favourite idol, he debuted as K-Pop boyband SHINee’s youngest member. He’s widely recognised as one of the industry’s best dancers, and his discography is a list of shimmery, unforgettable dance tracks that are a hit internationally. Take “Danger”, a track in his debut mini album, for example, which reinforced his status as South Korea’s answer to pop legend Michael Jackson, or “Move” from his 2017 album of the same name.

We also love some of his other underrated tracks such as “Goodbye”, a slower, more emotional song, and his latest English single, “Long Way Home”.

Fujii Kaze

Dates: 11 and 18 April

Songs to binge-listen: “Nan-Nan” and “Shinunoga E-Wa”

Find this name familiar? Fujii Kaze is the brains (and voice) behind the viral “Shinunoga E-Wa”, but the 28-year-old is no one-hit wonder. Known to shuttle seamlessly between genres from R&B to rock, he’s also produced other tracks such as “Kirari” and “Garden” that fans loved. His collection of earworms and soulful, raspy voice make for a series of performances worth looking forward to at Coachella.

Big Bang

Dates: 12 and 19 April

Songs to binge-listen: “Bang Bang Bang”, “Fantastic Baby” and “Sober”

This is not a drill—the OGs are actually back, and fans are so hyped for it that they’re terming the festival ‘Bangchella’. Big Bang debuted in 2006 and quickly became an award-winning band loved by many worldwide for their experimental sound and sometimes irreverent lyricism, inspiring many idols today to follow suit.

For their 20th anniversary this year, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung will be taking the stage at Coachella, and dropping news of their much-awaited comeback while they’re at it. This follows their last album, Made, which was released almost a decade ago. And if there’s anything we know about the K-Pop legend, it’s that we can expect their signature blend of genres, from hip-hop to R&B, plus one explosive performance after another.

If you’re new to the group, it’s never too late to be a VIP. Their most popular releases include “Fantastic Baby” and “Bang Bang Bang”, but if you’re on the hunt for more under-the-radar songs, “Cafe” might just be the one for you.

For the hopeless romantics, get ready for a dose of your fellow lover girl Laufey. The Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter is bringing jazz back for the Gen Z crowd, gaining a steady following for her relatable lyrics and easy listens. While there are no skips in her well-loved discography, we hope to catch her top hits like “Lover Girl”, along with new tracks from A Matter of Time: The Final Hour, a reissue of the A Matter of Time album that will drop just before she performs at Coachella.
