5 Reasons To Stay At This Chic Urban Oasis When You're In Bangkok
From lip-smackingly delicious food to stress-relieving spa treatments, the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok is the ideal city retreat
Just a stone's throw away from Bangkok's Lumphini Park, the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok offers a highly personalised experience that makes you feel as if you are staying in a good friend's home, rather than a hotel.
Its central location makes getting around the city a breeze, and with the shopping district just a few stops away, the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok is the perfect spot for the business or leisure traveller in the Land of a Thousand Smiles.
1. Location, location, location
The 11-storey hotel is located in the heart of Bangkok's Central Business District, which makes getting to and from it a breeze. For your own convenience, take the complimentary shuttle service that drops you off at the Sala Daeng BTS station, and if you're not keen on making the 15-minute walk back to the hotel, simply hop onto one of the available tuk-tuks for a zip back.

2. Chic, modern Asian decor
Designed by Singaporean interior designer Kathryn Kng, the spacious rooms are beautifully appointed in the COMO Group's signature blend of East meets West. What we liked about the rooms were the lush, dark wood furnishings as well as the meditation chairs that encourage one to take a moment for reflection every day, and that drives home the hotel's theme of mental and physical wellness.
3. Food, glorious food
If there's one thing you can be sure of while you're in Bangkok, it's that there will not be a lack of good food. Especially so at the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, which is home to nahm, the Michelin-starred restaurant that specialises in traditional Thai cuisine. Helmed by renowned chef David Thompson, the dining experience was one of the best we have had in the city. We recommend going for the nahm set menu (2,500 baht), where you will get to try a selection of the restaurant's best dishes. Particular standouts included the clear soup of roast pigeon, crab and tapioca, the scallop salad with coconut and lemongrass, and the whole fried fish with lemongrass fish sauce.

4. Shambhala your stress away
The COMO Shambhala spa treatments never fail to disappoint, and this time we went for the traditional Thai massage (2,400 baht for 75 minutes) that literally melted our stress away, and the Guinot Hydradermie Deluxe Treatment (3,700 baht) that gave our skin a glow that lasted throughout our trip.
5. Fabulous facilities
After undergoing a year-long renovation, the facilities at the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok have been given a considerable upgrade. With a state-of-the-art gym, yoga studio, hydrotherapy pools and a lush swimming pool to lounge around, there's just so much that you can do to relax without stepping out of the premises. Their complimentary daily yoga classes are highly recommended for a gentle morning workout before breakfast.
