Emily Ratajkowski Reveals She Kept Her Wedding Ring After Filing For Divorce

“I know a lot of people who are unhappily married for a very long time because they’re so afraid of divorce.”

Emily Ratajkowski has a fresh perspective on divorce.

In the latest episode of her podcast, High Low, the model talks to actress Tommy Dorfman about their respective divorces. (Ratajkowski filed for divorce from ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard last fall, while Dorfman announced her split from ex Peter Zurkuhlen early last year.)

"When you were talking about your divorce stuff, I remember when you were going through that, I was like, 'Oh, I'm not alone,'" Dorfman tells Ratajkowski.

"I love a divorce story," she replies.

"What did you do with your ring?" Dorfman asks.

"I still have it," Ratajkowski says. "But every time I hear a divorce story or when I see the news, I have to remind myself that I have to be like, 'Oh, that's sad.' I literally say to people, 'Good for you.'"

Dorfman agrees. "I think my ex-husband, who I'm really, really good friends with still, would tell you that this is the best thing that could've happened to us," she says.

"I don't think divorce is a sad thing," Ratajkowski says. "I know a lot of people who are unhappily married for a very long time because they're so afraid of divorce, and I don't think that's a good way to live."

The duo end their conversation on a high note, with the model sending Dorfman off by saying, "Well, cheers to divorce."

During another recent episode of High Low, Ratajkowski, who is currently linked to comedian Eric André, opens up about the challenges of casually dating as a highly scrutinized public figure. Namely, paparazzi producing "pretty weird" and uncomfortable moments for her and her dates.

"I've gone on dates where there's been no pictures, and I'm like, 'All good,' and then there's been times where literally the first time that I've met someone, we spent two hours together, and there's pictures on the Internet," she says. "My close friends will be like, 'Dude, that guy's stoked, like, he's stoked. He just got photographed on a date with you.' And then that makes me feel gross. I'm like, 'I wouldn't want to be with somebody who is excited to be photographed with me.' That's not a good sign."

She adds, "It's also been tough because I've been trying to casually date and not get booed up, not get cuffed up, and it's been hard to do that and be kind of mindful of the people that I'm seeing, because I don't necessarily want to know when they're going on another date. … Anytime I go on another date, everybody knows, so the other guys I'm dating see it, and it has been kind of difficult, because, of course, they're like, 'Oh, didn't talk to her last night,' and then you know, there's pictures of me out to dinner with someone else."

She previously spoke on being single for the first time in her adult life for Harper's BAZAAR's November 2022 cover story.

"I can tell you that I have never been single before," she said. "I feel all the emotions. I feel anger, sadness. I feel excitement. I feel joy. I feel levity. Every day is different. The only good thing I know is that I'm feeling all those things, which is nice because it makes me believe that I'll be okay."
