Everything To Know About 'Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts' And Its Singapore Debut

The highly-anticipated blockbuster film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts finally hits the big screen today, and is ready to take audiences on a globetrotting adventure as the Autobots face off with the Maximals. As a sequel of the Transformers franchise - following the release of Bumblebee back in 2018 - and a prequel to Michael Bay's first Transformers movie, the new film draws heavily on the OG Beast Wars cartoon.

Under the watchful gaze of Steven Caple Jr., best known as the director of Creed II, the movie pays a lot more attention to telling the story of its human lead characters rather than focusing on the events taking place around them. Our protagonist is Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos), a Brooklyn-based veteran trying to support his mom and sick younger brother. After all his career prospects have failed, he steals a very slick-looking Porsche, which just so happens to be a Transformer. In the midst of all this, a museum researcher named Elena Wallace (Dominique Fishback) stumbles upon the Transwarp Key and activates it.

The story of Rise of the Beasts revolves around this very device, which travels through space and time and is protected by the Maximals Transformers. It is also being sought after by Unicron, a planet-eating villain. The story explores the epic battle between all the Transformers factions as they fight for control over ancient and powerful artefacts.

A new cast of characters is introduced in this film, including Mirage (Pete Davidson), Arcee (Liza Koshy), Optimus Primal (Ron Perlman), Airazor (Michelle Yeoh), Cheetor (Tongayi Chirisa), and Rhinox (David Sobolov). These characters bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the film, giving viewers the chance to explore the world of the show in different ways.

The movie promises to deliver the signature action-packed sequences and visually stunning effects that the franchise is known for, further aiming to expand the Transformers mythology while captivating both existing fans and new audiences alike. It's a must-see for Transformers fans, but also for anybody who loves action movies. Press Conference

The film's cast, director and producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, all stopped by Singapore for its recent promotions, and BAZAAR heard from stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Grammy-nominated rapper and actor Tobe Nwigwe at the official press conference.

They talked about the creative process and the unique vision that brought the movie to life. They also shared their thoughts on the impact the film has had on the audience. Finally, they shared how they hope the franchise will continue to grow in the future.

Red Carpet

On the evening of 27 May, the film's cast and crew rolled out the red carpet for Singapore's first global movie premiere in three years, defying the rain in front of the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands.

With the world's eyes on Singapore, the event marked a glamorous return for Hollywood talent in the country as well as a glimmer of hope for the local film industry. That hope was further amplified by the event's largely international audience, illustrating the strong potential for Singapore's film industry to grow in the near future.
