Rejoice, Upper East Siders—We're Getting A Second Season of Gossip Girl

More Gossip Girl is headed our way.

HBO confirmed in a press release that the cult-favorite teen drama has been picked up for a second season. The modernized reboot, which features a more diverse, more queer, and overall more socially conscious cast of characters, premiered earlier this summer and instantly shattered viewing records, becoming HBO Max's most-viewed original series at the time. An instant social media sensation obtaining around 15 billion total social impressions during its launch, the reimagined series also turned its cast of newcomers—Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Thomas Doherty, and more—into overnight sensations with fervent fan bases to boot.

The show's official Instagram account broke the renewal news with a post teasing its return.

"You'll want to keep your phone close, I won't be gone for long. S1 continues this fall, with S2 to follow," the caption read, alongside a video clip of the cast checking their phones for the latest Gossip Girl blast.

It's a Queen Bee showdown for season 2.

There's almost too much drama to unpack in the new trailer for the second season of Gossip Girl, set to hit HBO Max on December 1. In the clip, we see Audrey, Aki and Max struggle with their new relationship dynamic, Zoya explore a new friendship, and Julien work to maintain her social status in the aftermath of her father's social scandal—with her frenemy Monet impatiently awaiting her downfall. Paparazzi photos from on set prove that a number of standout outfits will appear in the reboot's second season.

A fan favourite character is making a comeback.

Ahead of Gossip Girl returning this fall, it was confirmed via the show's Instagram account that quasi-villian Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) from the original series would reprise her role.

"It only takes one spark..and I have a feeling that this city is about to burn," read a caption from a short reel featuring the actress sitting alone in an empty theater.
