"For our first Lunar New Year, we brought Chinatown to 90210 because baby G was still a baby. Now that he is a toddler, and can grasp ideas and asks many questions, we celebrated the new year in Chinatown Los Angeles! We introduced him to his culture first-hand—visited the temple to pay respect to ancestors, ate locally and authentically, and shopped for unique trinkets in support of our local businesses and communities. We are excited to begin the conversation about his heritage with him through his little senses - seeing, eating, touching experiencing."

"I spent Chinese New Year at home with my family—we like to keep things simple and traditional. I made vegan black bean brownies, nian gao, turnip cakes, and scallion bread; my mom prepared some sea cucumber, abalone, and a steamed fish. Our entire family made dumplings together wearing head to toe red. This year is extra special for me because I am born in the Year of the Ox."
