Instagram-worthy Looks For Your Dining Table This Holiday Season

It is widely known and accepted that at the end of the day, the holiday season is all about the food. But with the advent of instagram the holidays are becoming more and more about the food-photography.

As the saying goes, we eat with our eyes first- which means that not only does your cooking have to taste good, but it has to look even better. While many of us may be blessed with culinary skills (or, you know, there's always home delivery), it is understandable that perhaps not all of us may be blessed with gourmet-style presentation skills (uh, four artisan drops of sauce next to my meat? No, thank you).

Nonetheless, to save you the embarrassment of not making it on to your cousin's #instafood post, here are four different looks inspired by the instagram accounts of interior designers to make sure your table setting is insta-ready! Think of it like an #ootd for your dining table.

Au Naturale 

Sibella Court is all about those earthy tones and textures. Look out for ceramics in taupes, browns, and muted greens. Terracotta, stone, and wood are some other materials you can consider if you want to go for a more Mother Nature-inspired vibe.

Modern Monochrome

Jonathan Adler makes monochrome fun by creatively incorporating metallic hues and uniquely sculpting his pieces (that vase!). Consider off-beat shapes and prints, like the key-shaped flatware and gold-splattered dinner set, to give black-and-white a pop art feel.

Classic Blue

The blue and white porcelain combination is an evergreen classic on the dinner table. Alessandra Branca shows how to keep it from looking too old-fashioned by combining blue china with woven placemats and trays. Fresh pink bougainvillea and shell ornaments complement the intricate designs on the dinnerware.

Colour Me Printed! 

Kelly Wearstler is not afraid of going all out with eccentric prints, sculptures, and bold colours - all at once! While this may seem intimidating, it is possible to go big at home without looking tacky. Consider playing with different prints in one colour scheme, like Wearstler does with pinks and purples in the bottom right image. You could even combine monochrome prints with a solid statement colour such as red or mustard. Just don't be afraid to take risks!
