Kate Upton Calls Victoria's Secret Fashion Show A "Snoozefest"

Kate Upton has branded the Victoria's Secret fashion show a "snoozefest" on account of its limited view of female beauty. The brand recently cancelled its annual catwalk event as it attempts to rebrand itself in a body-positive era.

"You know what, we're sick of seeing the same body type," Upton said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "You have to be body inclusive now. Every woman needs to be represented. Otherwise it's a snoozefest."

Upton has been on the receiving end of the lingerie label's narrow idea about ideal female beauty before. In 2012, Victoria's Secret casting director Sophia Neophitou said that Victoria's Secret "would never use her".

"She's like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blonde hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy," Neophitou said.

The 2018 Victoria's Secret show was watched by its lowest-ever number of viewers. The brand's controversial chief marketing officer Ed Razek, the man part responsible for the company's tired image announced his retirement in early August. In 2018, the 71-year-old attracted headlines after he said that he would never cast a transgender model in the show. He also insisted the public has "no interest" in the inclusion of plus-size models.
