The Luxurious Hong Kong Establishment That's A Favourite Of The Social Elite

Why it's worth a visit to the glamorous Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

Located at the heart of Hong Kong’s financial and luxury retail belt, Mandarin Oriental is synonymous with world-class hospitality, making it the go-to destination for discerning globetrotters. With over 500 rooms and suites, the stately icon is a study in the art of warmth and luxury in equal measure. It is no wonder then, that Hong Kong's social elite and A-list celebrities are often spotted in its hallowed hallways, adding an air of glamour to the opulent surrounds.

Accomodation

Guests can choose from a number of suites and standard rooms, but we stayed in the Harbour View Room. As its name suggests, it overlooks the Victoria Harbour, which is stunning in both the day and night. The room's warm wood tones and neutral colour palette is inviting and perfect for rest and relaxation—it almost feels like a home you never want to leave. The attention to detail and service is excellent: Our charging cables were thoughtfully wrapped up and secured with an MO-labelled Velcro strip, while microfibre cloth was provided for our laptop as well.

When it comes to luxury, the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong also boasts some of the most magnificent suites on the island. Splash your cash for the spectacular Mandarin Suite (the hotel's version of the presidential suite) with its open air balcony and a marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub, if you want to truly experience the high life.

Hidden away within the heritage establishment is The Mandarin Spa, which provides a tranquil escape from the bustling cosmopolitan city for locals and travellers alike, thanks to its comprehensive spa menu of invigorating massages and rejuvenating facials.

If you visit regularly, try its new DNAFit programme, which is part of the spa’s goal to provide a holistic approach to health and wellness. A simple saliva swab is collected before your 12-week DNAFit programme commences, so that an in-depth analysis of your genetic makeup can be done. A workout curriculum is then created to help achieve optimal results in fat loss, muscle gain and cardiovascular improvement at the 24-hour Fitness Centre.

Food and drink

Then, treat yourself to the hotel’s 10 restaurants and bars (of which three are Michelin-starred)—in moderation, of course. Highlights include the Michelin-starred Man Wah, which serves hearty Cantonese fare; indulge in elegant French cuisine at the two-Michelin starred Pierre; and the M bar, which has panoramic views of the Victoria Harbour that's simply breathtaking at night.
